Portuguese wines are not big sellers in the UK – Sainsburys offers 13 ports: just 3 red wines (read my review of one here: https://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/atimeforwine.blog/3908) and this white wine.
Tasting notes: Appearance is pale lemon in colour. Floral aromas. Stone fruit flavours and some minerality on the palate. Drier than I expected. Balanced acidity. A little length to the finish and some complexity.
Country/Region of Origin – Portugal/Douro
Wine Colour – White
Price – £8.75
Where do I get it from? – Sainsbury
Current Vintage – 2019
Type of Closure – Screw cap
Bottle size – 750ml
Grape – ‘indigenous grape varieties’.
Verdict – Good wine – a tad overpriced.
Food Pairings: Went well with a gazpacho on a hot evening, would work well with chicken and rice dishes.
