Grüner Veltliner – Lidl

This is one of three Grüner Veltliner stocked by Lidl – and it ought to be good. I’m a fan of the grape & I liked it. Lidl’s range seems to change really rapidly, so don’t hang about!

Tasting notes: Medium intensity, pale lemon colour, with green reflections. Primary apple and citrus notes. No secondary or tertiary notes. Balanced acidity; dry. Short finish. Flavours of green apple & citrus notes. Typical of the variety. Works best with food.

Region of Origin – Niederosterreich
Wine Colour – white
Price – £6
Where do I get it from? Lidl
Current Vintage – 2019
Producer – Johann Quest
Grape – Grüner Veltliner
Country – Austria

Verdict – (quite) good wine for the price.

Food Pairings: we had this with chicken gougere and it went brilliantly.
