‘Chateau La Pierre’ Muscadet Cotes de Grandlieu, Jerome Choblet

I’ve tasted my way from Nantes to Pouilly-sur-Loire over the course of several visits to the region. I’m a big fan of Muscadet in the summer; for me it’s the perfect wine to wash down moules mariniere. This wine comes from the area around Nantes.

Tasting notes: Pale straw yellow with green reflections. Floral and fruity nose. Light-bodied with some minerality. A little nettle, this sensation comes from the lees aging, which gives the wine some subtle effervescence. Fresh, crisp acidity. Well balanced. A little length on the finish. Some intensity. Aged sur lie which makes it more supple.

Wine Colour – White
Price – £5.50
Where do I get it from? Lay & Wheeler
Current Vintage – 2018
Producer – Jerome Choblet
Grape – 100% Melon de Bourgogne
Region/Country – Loire/France

Verdict Good wine for the price.

Food Pairing: This would go well with the usual seafood and fish dishes. We had this with buckwheat crepes and it went well.
