This is decent Chenin Blanc and fair value at £8.99. It is significantly cheaper at Morrisons if you have one near you. Once again I must express my wish that it had ‘Fairly Traded’ credentials…
Tasting notes: Primary notes of stone fruits. Balanced acidity. A little length of finish, a little complexity, Crisp, dry wine. Predominantly citrus fruit notes, a little tropical fruit and white stone fruit notes. Unoaked.
Wine Colour – White
Price – £8.99 (Currently £6 at Morrisons)
Where do I get it from? Waitrose
Current Vintage – 2019
Producer – Kleine Zalze
Grape – 100% Chenin Blanc
Region/Country – Western Cape/South Africa
Verdict – Good wine for the price. Would have had a better rating had it been certified as fairly traded.
Food Pairing: This would go well with mildly spiced foods; we had it with a prawn curry and it went well.
