Chablis 2019 – Lidl

An alternative to the more expensive white burgundies is this good chardonnay from Lidl, which goes well with fish . Lidl have a decent range of reasonably priced wine. Chablis still insist producers don’t name the grape variety (inexplicable to my mind – would love to challenge that rationale) and that they use cork closures (despite a ‘failure rate’ of 7% – if I thought that, on average 1 bottle per case would be faulty due to the closure – I would change it…).

Tasting notes: . Crisp Chardonnay with aromas of citrus, banana. Bone dry. The same on the palate with a little minerality. Balanced acidity. A little length to the finish. Some intensity and a little complexity. Not as rich as some chardonnays but good value.
