I receive a lot of hits for this wine. Let me know in the comments what you think of it because people generally read about a wine because they like it and want to know if others do too or because they are unsure whether to buy it or not… There are as many as 30 Pinot Grigios to choose from in my local supermarket – from Italy, South America, Australia, the USA, Eastern Europe… Most are cheap and inoffensive: citrussy, appley, pale, reliable – forgettable but very popular. This one is different to the majority of Pinot Grigios; it had an interesting initial taste and a little complexity – good value at £6.50
Tasting notes: Pale, straw colour. The nose is citrus, and a little white stone fruit. Initially some mineral notes. Balanced acidity – can be drunk as an aperitif (i.e. without food). Dry. Short finish. A little complexity; hints of peach and apple. Light, so no real intensity – which is standard for the variety.
Region of Origin – Trentino
Wine Colour – White
Price – £6.50 reduced from £7
Where do I get it from? Sainsbury
Current Vintage – 2019
Producer – Rocca Murer/Cavit
Grape – 100% Pinot Grigio
Country – Italy
Vedict – (Quite) good wine for the money
Food Pairing: This would go well with fish dishes, pasta etc.
I picked it out today. I really couldn’t decide if I wanted Chardonnay or Riesling or what. For some weird reason the bottle shape made me think it might be a bit more serious than a typical pg. The trentino yeah helped too.
