Portuguese wines are not big sellers in the UK – Sainsburys offers 13 ports – but just a single red wine. Portuguese reds can be great (Porta 6 acquired something approaching cult status a few years ago – read my review here).
Tasting notes: Appearance is deep purple. On the nose black fruits. Closed – needs to breathe. Same notes on the palate. Balanced acidity. A little length to the finish. No real intensity or complexity and a little thin. Needs food.
Country/Region of Origin – Portugal/Lisboa
Wine Colour – Red
Price – £7
Where do I get it from? – Sainsbury
Current Vintage – 2018
Type of Closure – Screw cap
Bottle size – 750ml
Grape – Castelão, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Syrah
Verdict – Acceptable wine for the money
Food Pairings: Went well with a barbecue.
Great post 😁
