Sauvignon Blanc is many people’s favourite white wine – but not mine… I have found it to be ‘pinched’ and ‘mean’. I have tasted Pouilly Fume in Pouilly sur Loire – and was hugely disappointed. Sancerre often seems expensive and overrated to me. Kiwi Sauvignon Blancs fare slightly better – although I have had one that had such a pungent aroma of cat urine that I admonished Bubble, my gigantic cat. The Ned has acquired high status among fans of the grape – so I gave it a go. It was good…
Tasting notes: Golden colour. Very fruity (grapefruit more than gooseberry). Dry, complex, good mouthfeel, some minerality. Lingering finish. Pleasantly surprised!
