Tasting Notes:
“A.B.C.” I’ve heard this so often I can no longer be bothered arguing with it. If you aren’t prepared to try things, it’s your loss. Chardonnay is my favourite grape but I can see why; the trend for oaky, buttery, head-ache-inducing, ‘big’, Aussie chardonnays like Lindemans Bin 65 & Wolf Blass two decades ago put people off. I once tried to persuade somebody who uttered these initials, by asking whether they liked Chablis. Or Mersault. Or Puligny-Montrachet… ‘Oh yes!’
‘But they’re chardonnay!’
‘Well, not really…’
Siiiiiigggghhh….
Well, this chardonnay, made for Sainsbury’s by Errazuriz, is ABC – it tastes like sauvignon blanc… It’s quite good – but when I want Sauvignon Blanc, I buy that…
